Brownies from Episode 7
"Here comes Janet with her damn brownies!"--Janet
It turns out that a pound of Hershey's chocolate syrup is 1 and a half cups. They no longer make the can but they have the squeeze bottle of syrup, which is the same thing.
Makes an oblong pan (9X13)

Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 pound can of Hershey's chocolate syrup or 1 and 1/3 cups of bottled version or see below for homemade version
1 cup of flour
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional) or 1/2 cup chocolate chips plus 1 tsp flour

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and mix well. Add syrup, vanilla, and flour (plus nuts if you really want nuts in your brownies, Bossy and Bootie prefer no nuts in all baked goods, this is our mother's fault for not giving us nuts as children because they're a choking hazard. Thanks for keeping us alive, Mom!). Mix until combined, then mix the chocolate chips with the 1 tsp flour--this helps to keep the chocolate chips suspended in the batter--and stir into the batter. Pour in greased oblong pan (9X13) and bake for 30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Make frosting while cake part is baking. Frost cake while hot.

Frosting:
6 T butter
1/3 cup whole milk or cream
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1 and 1/2 cups sugar

Mix together the butter, milk and sugar in a saucepan and bring to boil for several minutes until sugar is melted and mixture is smooth. Take off the heat and add the chocolate chips and beat the "H" "E" double toothpicks out of it for a couple of minutes until mixture is smooth and thick. Spread on hot cake with a spatula. Because the cake part is warm, some of the delicious frosting will seep in, so good!

Chocolate syrup (courtesy of All Recipes)
1 and 1/2 cups sugar
1 and 1/2 cups water
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
Dash of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

Cook water and sugar on low heat until sugar has melted. Whisk in cocoa powder and salt. Cook until mixture is bubbly and has thickened. Take off heat and add vanilla. Recipe makes about 2 and 1/2 cups. You only need 1 and 1/2 cups for the brownies, so save the rest to pour on ice cream or waffles or cereal, no judgments here!

This is the milk, sugar and butter before adding the chocolate chips.

Bootie thinks that Bossy now lives 3000 miles away from her so that it is less likely she'll stick her "grubby little fingers" in Bossy's damn brownies!
