Episode 29: Banana Bread and project updates!
Mom's banana bread has been a staple in Bootie's home ever since her son was very little. And at 6'3', he is a testament to the nourishment that bananas provide. Check out his short animation called "The People Split" featuring, you guessed it , bananas!! Who knew that eating all those bananas would produce such wonderful fruit (ba dum dum)? Here's the video: The People Split

And here are the details on the banana bread. Bossy uses a slightly different recipe from James Beard (the only difference is the addition of 1/3 of a cup of milk soured with lemon). Bootie agreed that the addition of the milk is a good one. One of the things we love about this recipe is its versatility. You can add nuts, coconut, chocolate chips, or all three! Bossy adds a crumble to hers and says that square baking pans should be banned. If you're going to bake something, make a big pan of it--no one is going to complain about leftover banana bread. Many thanks to Layla Pujol of Laylita.com who advised Bootie to add coconut and bake it in a cake pan. As usual, she was right!

Bootie completed the Glymur poncho for Mom! Her cat Fifi helped her block it. Bootie gave Mom the poncho and she loves it. Hopefully soon, we'll get a picture of her wearing it but in the meantime, Bootie snapped a quick selfie.

Bootie decided to frog the beginnings of the Pokemon sweater she's making for her son as the colorwork was way too tight--she's learned her lesson and will be swatching with the colorwork this time! She's going a different direction with the yarn too. Any suggestions for what to do with this little masterpiece are welcome!

Bossy had to abandon her Glymur project due to an impending baby shower on June 1. She got the Berroco Superwash (Charcoal: 33113; Light Grey 33109; Teal 3324) at Web's (America's Yearn Store) on "Local Yarn Store Day" and received these size 5 needles when she spun the free-stuff-when-you-buy-something wheel. How fun is that? She is embarking on panic knitting this blanket from Cascade Yarn's pattern 25 "Slip Stitch Sunshine" in their 60 More Quick Baby Blankets. It might be quick if you were knitting it for a baby snake (the original pattern is 13 and 1/2 inches wide--WHY??!!), but since her friend is expecting a human baby, she added about a foot in width, so it's taking L-O-N-G-E-R. Not good for panic knitting.
And whatever you do, don’t knit like my sister!
