Episode 41: Purls Before Swine
This savory cheese and chive bread from Dorie Greenspan's book, Around my French Table is scrumptious. Perfect as an appetizer with a glass of wine (for hanging out with Bootie, Bossy, and Kim Davis), as a side with a salad and some egg bites, or for breakfast! It's super versatile and can be whipped up in a snap with whatever cheese and herbs you have one hand.
Bootie and Bossy discussed "Purl," a Pixar short animated film about a ball of pink yarn trying to fit into an old boy network at a company called "B.R.O." While we appreciated the film's attempt to tackle the ever present issue of women having to alter themselves to adapt to a male dominated workplace (not to mention all the knitting and crochet puns), we wished the male characters had more depth. That being said, the mere fact that this 8 minute animated film brought up so many points of discussion is a tribute to its artistry.
Other Pixar shorts we recommend: Tin Toy, For the Birds, Float
Bootie made some progress on her Kleine cardigan.

Bossy is almost finished with her Eurus sweater!

We talked a bit about mosaic knitting and Andrea Mowry's Shift cowl.
We discussed clever knitters, including Patty Lyons, who come up with ingenious ways of doing things.
Bossy has been attending a print making class at the Worcester Center for Crafts with her husband and has learned to make gel prints using everyday objects such as bubble wrap. She's going to try to make some lace swatches using the Japanese Lace book her friend Betsy gave her.

And whatever you do, don’t knit like my sister!
