“I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.”—Angela Davis
Bossy with her extended family at the March in Philadelphia, 2017
Bootie knit this brioche hat by Andrea Mowry with Cascade Yarns Alpaca Lace in 1413 Silver and Cascade Yarns Luminosa in 14 Gold. And a pom pom from Webs (thanks Bossy for the yarn and the pom Pom!)
Here’s the pattern:
Vintage Prim (Ravelry)
Bootie’s Pussy hat using three needle bind off and faux fur Purl Soho tutorial on 3 needle bind off:
The yarn was from stash.
A great book for hat knitting:
Malabrigo Time for Hats Book 15
We mentioned a couple of patterns in particular from the book if you want to check those out. They are:
Lucia (the peach one with floats in the front)
And
Clara (the brioche that Bossy is definitely going to finish at some point)
Tread knit by Bossy. For the black one, she used the same Cascade Yarns Luminosa in 14 Gold that Bootie used in her Vintage Prim. The white one was knit with two stash yarns held together, one was angora.

Bootie knit the brim with Serial Knitter's Bridal Trails DK in Wino and the crown with Serial Knitter’s Bridal Trails DK OOAK in Kaleidoscope. The Pom pom also came from Serial Knitter’s.
Michelle Lee Bernstein, a wonderful teacher and designer, has a book for brioche beginners. Here’s her website where you can find her book and other information:
Here’s a tutorial for a lifeline in case you get stuck: Marly Bird Lifeline tutorial
Bootie referenced a picture book about hats from around the world: Hats, Hats, Hats by Ann Morris.
And whatever you do, don’t knit like my sister!
