Episode 8 Interview with Laylita
"My recipes are inspired mainly by traditional Ecuadorian dishes that I grew up eating in Ecuador. However, my love of food – and therefore the recipes posted here – go beyond Ecuador and include anything from Latin America, my mom’s spicy New Mexican cooking, my grandmother’s homemade Southwestern dishes and Texas style BBQ, my husband’s (and his family’s) delicious French food, new dishes introduced by my amazing group of international friends, and of course the great variety of seafood, vegetables and fruits available in the Pacific Northwest."--Layla Pujol (from her blog Laylita.com)
Bootie and Bossy had the honor of interviewing Layla Pujol, the creator of Laylita.com, an Ecuadorian food blog and one of the contributors to the cookbook Yo Cocino Latino (fun fact, after the book was published, Layla was interviewed by Books and Books, one of Bossy and Bootie's father's favorite book stores in Miami). Bootie has had the pleasure of tasting many of Layla's dishes and would recommend these to start your journey into this culinary wonderland.
Bossy Knits
Progress on the Arpeggio poncho that Bossy is making with the "help" of her bad dog, Toby. Notice that she is down to her last two balls of yarn. Always buy extra yarn. Webs, here she comes!
Bootie Knits
Bootie has made a little progress on her Musselburgh hat which is her take along project for doctor's visits, the DMV, etc. Thankfully she hasn't had too many of those recently so not much progress! The yarn is Uneek sock yarn (colorway number 53) and Chiaogoo minis on size 2 needles.
Bootie has finished the body of her Brezel sweater by Marie Greene! She has put this aside for now so as to focus on a test knit. This is her first time test knitting so she wants to be sure to make the deadline!
Here is the information about the fuse which had to marinate much like the ceviche, in the KitchenAid mixer bowl for 6 weeks before being ordered and installed. This is the last step in the process which began with first, break your mixer on Christmas Day.
And whatever you do, don’t knit like my sister!
